15-year-old Sheridan IL racer Cameron Vandermeir will be running for the Oak Creek Automotive Rookie of the Year award in 2023 with the Mid-Am Racing Series presented by Wilkins Rebuilders Supply.
The younger Vandermeir is the son of 5 time Mid Am Racing Series Champion Ron Vandermeir Jr. The number 32 will be sponsored by Mac Rak Racing, Finish Line Flooring, and R1 Graphix in 2023. Cameron was able to make 4 starts in Mid Am competition in 2022. Making starts at Sycamore, Wisconsin Dells, Madison, and Rockford. During the NSTC at Rockford weekend, Cameron started on the pole and brought home a 4th place finish right behind series front runners James Swan, Clay Curts, and Rick Redig-Tackman. Cameron has improved so much in his limited time behind the wheel of a Mid Am car. We look for big things from Cameron in 2023
Cameron really looks forward to 2023 as he will race full-time with the Mid Am Racing Series. The former Go Cart racer at K3 Speedway in Kankakee IL has been hard at work in the garage with Pops Vandermeir and his dad. The Mid Am Racing Series Season kicks off Saturday night April 22nd with the 46th running of the Spring Classic at Rockford Speedway.
